Professor Kishore G. Kulkarni, Chief Editor

Kishore G. Kulkarni is a Distinguished Professor of Economics at the Metropolitan State University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.  As an Adjunct Professor, he has also taught at the University of Colorado-Boulder, Korbel School of International Studies - University of Denver, Colorado State University, and the Colorado School of Mines.  Prof. Kulkarni completed his B.A. and M.A. in Economics at the University of Poona, India, earning Outstanding Student (First and Second Ranks in Merit respectively) in Economics awards.  He immigrated to the United States in 1976 and completed his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh.  He entered into his passion of full-time teaching immediately in 1981. His extraordinary teaching skills have brought him several teaching plaudits, including the 2001 Outstanding Teaching Award by the Golden Key International Honor Society, inclusion of his biography in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (1998), and Best Teaching Award by the Metropolitan Univeristy Student Economic Society in 2014.  His simple and humorous teaching style helped him get selected to the Spring 1994 voyage of the Semester at Sea Program.  He has also delivered many special lectures and seminars worldwide. 

Dr. Kulkarni has authored or edited (or co-authored and co-edited) eight books, some of which have been adopted as textbooks in American and Indian universities. His most recent book  Principles of Microeconomics, co-authored with Edwin Dolan, was published by Best Value Textbooks (BVTpublishing.com) in September 2014.  He has authored (or co-authored) 135 refereed journal articles which have appeared in such journals as the Indian Economic Journal, Indian Journal of Economics, Prajnan, Journal of Foreign Exchange and International Finance, International Journal of Development Banking, Asian Economic Review, Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives, Margin, Journal of Applied Business and Economic Research, SCMS Journal of Indian Management, Amity Business Journal, International Journal of Econometrics and Economic Development, and Indian Journal of Applied Economics.  Along with Dr. Bansi Sawhney, he co-founded the Indian Journal of Economics and Business which was published for 15 years (2001-2016).  The IJEB also organized conferences in USA and in India.   His new journal, International Review of Business and Economics, is the continuation of his previous journal. For his numerous research activities, Dr. Kulkarni was awarded Outstanding Faculty Researcher/Scholar Award by the Golden Key International Honor Society in 1997.    In 2004, the Faculty Senate of the Metropolitan State University of Denver awarded him the Distinguished Service Award which was followed by the Extraordinary Service Award by the University President in 2010.  In 2012, the Dean of the College of Business at Metropolitan State University recognized him as the first “Distinguished Professor” in the college of business. 

To carry out his research activities, he has held Visiting Research Fellowships at the National Institute of Bank Management in Pune, India, the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in Mumbai, India, the Reserve Bank of India (DRG Project) in Mumbai, India, the School of Communications and Management Studies (SCMS) in Kochi, India, and the National Insurance Academy in Pune, India.  Professor Kulkarni resides in Denver, Colorado with his wife Jayashree, an accounting professor. Together they have two daughters, Lina and Aditi.

Amitabh S. Dutta, Co-Editor

Dr. Amitabh S Dutta is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Bisk College of Business at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), Melbourne, Florida. At FIT, he has developed online classes for an MBA in Finance, and has formerly served as the Director of their Center of Ethics and Leadership.   Dr. Dutta has an undergraduate degree in Statistics from the University of Bombay, an MBA from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D. in Finance from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Dr. Dutta's research interests include debt and dividend policy, investments, and recently, pedagogy.  His recent publication evaluates possible spillover effects of cross listing a stock on both the Australian and British stock exchanges. Currently, he is working on a paper looking at hedge fund returns.


Rajeev Sooreea, Co-Editor

Dr. Rajeev Sooreea is Associate Dean and Associate Professor of International Business in the Barowsky School of Business at Dominican University of California where he is spearheading the AACSB initial accreditation process. He has served as the Director of Assessment and moved the Barowsky School to a robust Assurance of Learning process. In addition to serving as a founding faculty of the Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor, he is engaged in designing and launching a new M.S. in Business Analytics. In the past, he has served as the Founding Director of the MBA in Healthcare Leadership program.

As a scholar, Dr. Sooreea has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including International Journal of Business and Emerging Markets, International Journal of Public Policy, Journal of International Business Research, Indian Journal of Economics and Business, SCMS Journal of Indian Management, International Journal of Monetary Economics and Finance, Applied Financial Economics, and Journal of Business & Retail Management Research. He has more than 25 conference presentations including those at the Academy of International Business, American Economic Association, and NACRA, and his projects and research works have been presented at Stanford and Oxford. In 2013, Dr. Sooreea received the Best Case Research Paper Award by Palgrave Macmillan and in 2018 he received the Best Research Paper Presenter Award by Eurasia Research. Furthermore, Dr. Sooreea has obtained several internal and external competitive research grants such as Dominican President’s Strategic Initiative Fund Grant (2011), the North American Case Research Association Case Research Award (2012), Mauritius Research Council Research Grant (2012), Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University Research Grant (2012), and Arthur Vining Davis Foundations Grant for Dominican Experience (2018).

In terms of teaching, Dr. Sooreea has been an outstanding professor. He has been the recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award in the Barowsky School four times and a nominee for the university-wide Teacher of the Year Award twice. More recently, he received the 2019 Best Professor Award in the X-Culture Global Business Competition organized by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; he was selected from a group of 186 instructors teaching at 148 universities in 41 countries. Dr. Sooreea teaches international business, innovation and entrepreneurship, and leadership courses at the undergraduate and MBA levels and has taught at leading universities such as The Pennsylvania State University and University of California Berkeley. He has also held visiting professorships internationally.

In the industry, Dr. Sooreea has 10+ years of experience in management consulting. He has advised local think tanks such as Marin Economic Forum and worked extensively with organizations including the North Bay Leadership Council and San Francisco Bay Area companies for research, student community engagement, and advising. He has also consulted and advised top executives at numerous corporates including HSBC, Barclays Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Mauritius Commercial Bank, State Bank of India, State Bank of Mauritius, and provided assistance, thought leadership and consulting to business incubators, multinationals in China, the U.S. Embassy and foreign governments abroad. Prior to Dominican, he has also worked in an executive capacity in financial management for the Vice-President of Finance and Chief Investments Officer at the W. K. Kellogg Foundation in Michigan conducting fixed income securities and portfolio analysis, and advising senior management in New York City. Dr. Sooreea has helped found several organizations overseas including executive training and consultancy firms and a yoga studio focused on research, community engagement and social entrepreneurship.

Dr. Sooreea holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from Western Michigan University, an M.A. in Economics from Leeds University Business School (UK), a B.A. Honors in Economics from University of Bombay (India), and a Master’s degree in Management & Finance from Harvard University.
